Amontre has succeeded in being elegant. This is likely due to the owners Pornpot Kanpetch and Kulsiri Chaiyanoppakul. Their passion for doing things right ensures hype doesn't take over good sense. There is an upbeat music and an exquisite decoration with metal lantern and a sparking light which reflected from the pool hugging an alfresco dining area. And though the décor does not break new ground, it is most definitely relaxing.
Amontre offers uniquely prepared selections of both Thai and Western dishes with fresh ingredients and uncluttered presentation. Yam pla duk foo catfish salad is authentically Thai, but its freshness makes for a special treat. Pad prik pow nuea yang, grilled sirloin steak with beans and basil in chilli paste, competes with versions at any exclusively Thai restaurant. Amontre burger comprises high-quality ground beef, cheddar cheese, fried egg, sauteed onions and bacon with crispy golden french fries. Toasted focaccia with pesto, roasted red peppers, buffalo mozzarella and rocket salad will delight vegetarians. Perfectly cooked seared salmon fillet comes with lovely fresh greens, green beans, cucumbers, olives and salsa verde but suffers from too much olive oil. Sticky rice and mango is palate pleasing, but lime gelato is a little too sweet.
