Between Silom Rd. and Surawong Rd, within walking distance of BTS Sala Daeng Station, lies Patpong, where tourists and locals head for a night of fun.
Patpong is set as the city’s most renowned and most famous of various fine shops, restaurants, night market, five star hotels and most of all that draws a number of tourists and locals here are some of the city’s most boisterous nightlife.
The Patpong area was founded in the late 1960s which various bars were put up for the US servicemen. During day time, the area was home to the offices of international companies, including a number of airlines; however, it was changed into something fun and exciting at night time.
Moreover, since the troops pulled out in 1975, Patpong has become an appealing site for tourists and locals alike. A number of men head to Patpong area for cold beer, fun and the company of Thailand’s beautiful bar girls.
When talking about red light districts in Bangkok, people usually think of Patpong which is more miscellaneous than any of the city’s other bar areas and is home to open air bars, live music venues, pool halls, gogo bars and other specialty bars.
There are two small lanes(soi)which make up Patpong and one of the lanes is filled with go- go bars. You'll find Bangkok's world famous gogo bars where beautiful Thai women dance to the latest hits. The other lane is much more relaxed than the gogo bars. Here, you can find a number of lounge bars such as Cosmos Club, Executive Lounge and Crown Royal. Bars at this lane are much more quite which do not feature scantily clad dancers. This is considered as an ideal spot that you can relax if all you want is a beer and someone to chat with.
The open – air bars and some of the specialty bars in Patpong are opened during the day, yet most bars are opened early evening.
Your visit to Bangkok will not be complete without hitting a night at Patpong!!
